Exercise gaming and cheaper alternative exercises part 2

June 10th, 2007 by webmaster

If you have a Wii, you can play some of the games - but make sure you’re standing up for all of them! The Wii controllers aren’t heavy, but they can give an exercise! Alternatively, try holding your arms up for 2 minutes, then try 5, then 10, then add hand weights (even your phone… if it’s cordless/a mobile/cell).

Also.. lie on the ground on your side and lift the leg that’s on top upwards to about 45 degrees. Keep the legs straight! Hold that to the count of 40, then increase your numbers… it should work your butt, thighs and calf muscles… when you’ve finished counting, bend the leg and bring it back down to your body, or just lower it back down to the other foot. You should try to aim for 10 repetitions of this.. in no time your ass will be….. sore lol.. no pain no gain ;) . Awesome and free way to get your butt muscles up.

Tricep work - that one’s easy.. you can use the couch (lol I can’t stop thinking about that area of the house lol), coffee table (depending on your height) or the kitchen bench… if you’re taller - otherwise that won’t really work. Gravity is the force you’re aiming to have against you. Speaking of the kitchen bench, if you just enough flexibility, face it fully or side-on, put one of your feet on it (be sure to wipe it down properly when finished ;) ) and extend that leg - making sure it’s straight - and either move the bottom foot that’s on the ground backwards away from the sink for a muscle-controlled stretch, or just bend that leg without moving it away. Make sure before you do anything after putting your foot on the bench (or desk), a maximum of your ankle and foot are on the upper surface. That way you’ll get full benefits - and probably won’t hurt yourself as much lol.

I’m sure there are many more ideas you can do for exercise that doesn’t cost anything - you just have to look at something you usually use and think of another use, really. If you have a baby, tie him/her to the front of you with a baby carrier while you’re doing yoga etc - this will help work your tummy muscles etc.
